The expierience I had while reading this novel was unmatched by anything I have done before. It was an old book, a good book, that tought honer, dignity, and bravery. History only rembers abot one thousand big figureheads of world war one, but in reality, there are millions and millions with adventurs and stories of their own. Truth be told, theres just not enough time in the world to tell them all. While reading this book I saw my self in the past and the future. I imagined what it would be like to sit waist deep in freezing mud, knowing that in less than an hour, you and everyone you knew would be dead. I also imagined the future and predicted that such a test of charicter would accur numerous times for me and the team I am assigned to. I know that this war was great, not only because of the things acomplished, but also the sacrifices made, and the wonderfull adventure that everyone that participated had. I speak of sacrifice as the most noble and honerable of all deeds. I once read a story about a soldier who had both his legs blown off, and with his last breath of life, used his strength to crawl and drag an unconcous soldier to safety before bleeding out himself. Honer and sacrifice like this is what defines who we are. It shows who will run when the wolves come to feast on the flock, and who will stay and sacrifice themselves to protect the sheep. I think this message and severel more like these can be given to any reader who chooses to read this book. I would recomend this book to anyone who wishes to do good in the world. My experiences outside of reading where also changed by this book. When I stop reading and go outside to test my new ghillie suit, I must ignore the pain of the freezing tempratures, as the soldiers ignored the pain they where experiencing. I hope to one day be like them. A wise man once said that fighting alongside eachother will make you as close to the man next to you as you are to your own brother, and after reading this book, I can see how that would be said. Anyone who reads this book can see how that would be said. This makes for one of the greatest books I have ever read.
